Your family has tasked you with planning a road trip for this summer. You have to choose one of the regions of the United States to visit. After choosing, you need to persuade your family to visit the region. They want to know about climate, culture, and things to do.
Step 1: Use the packets from Amanda to read about each of the regions of the United States. As you are reading, complete the research assignment for the region. If you use additional resources, be sure to add them to the "resources" section of the research. Get the research approved by Amanda.
Step 2: Based on your research, determine which region you would like to visit and why. Create a detailed itinerary for your trip. This should include when you will leave, how much time you will spend on each activity, including travel time, and the approximate cost for each activity. Be sure to discuss climate, culture, things to do, places to eat, and where you will stay. For each item on the itinerary, write a paragraph explaining what the activity is and why you want to do it.
Extension 1: Create a map for your road trip. Be sure to include major landmarks that you will pass by. Also, calculate the total number of miles that you will travel on your trip. Determine how much money you will need to pay for gas for the entire trip.
Extension 2: Find a map of the United States. Learn the location and capital of each state. See Amanda to take a quiz on this information.
